DESCRIPTION:  ORIGINATING AT SACRED FALLS STATE PARK THIS TRAIL LEADS INTO A NARROW VALLEY WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 80+ FOOT CATARACT. 

 

THE TRAIL BEGINS ON AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS ROAD FOR A HALF MILE BEFORE REACHING A VAGUE JUNCTION AND CONTINUES ONTO AN UNMARKED LEFT-HAND SIDE TRAIL. FOLLOWING THE KALUANUI STREAM UPWARD, THE TRAIL TAKES YOU TO AN OPEN FIELD, AND THROUGH THE VALLEY BEFORE FINALLY REACHING THE SACRED FALLS.

 

IT IS AT THE SITE OF THE FALLS WHERE THE GREATEST RISK EXISTS. SHATTERED ROCKS THAT LITTER THE VALLEY FLOOR AND THE PRESENT DAY DOWNFALL OF SMALLER ROCKS ENSURES THAT THIS BROKEN ENVIRONMENT WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
