DESCRIPTION:  AN EXTENSION OF THE MOKULEIA TRAIL TRAVELING EASTWARD ALONG MAKUA RIM TO "THREE CORNERS" WHERE THREE SEPARATE VALLEYS (MOKULE'IA, MAKAHA, & MAKUA VALLEY) CAN BE VIEWED FROM A SINGLE POINT.

THE APPROACH OUTLINED HERE FOLLOWS A 3.5 MILE ROAD UP TO PEACOCK FLATS AND ENTERS THE PAHOLE NATURAL AREA RESERVE TO REACH THE END OF THE MOKULE'IA TRAIL OVERLOOKING MAKUA RIM. OTHER VARIATIONS EXIST INCLUDING AN APPROACH FROM MAKAHA VALLEY AND MOUNT KA'ALA VIA THE NIKE ROAD.

A FENCE LINE ESTABLISHED BY THE MILITARY COMPLETELY ENCIRCLES THE RIM PERIMETER DISCOURAGING TRESPASSING INTO THE VALLEY. ALTHOUGH BOTH THE MAKUA RIM EAST & WEST TRAILS FOLLOW THIS IRRITATING FENCE LINE IT DOES PROVE HELPFUL IN SEVERAL STEEP SECTIONS.
